Mr. Petro T. Mattaba has served as the Director of Business Development and Marketing at SELF Microfinance Fund (SELF MF) since March 2023. Prior to this role, he held key leadership positions within the Fund, including Credit Management Manager and Credit Operations Manager. Before joining SELF MF, he gained extensive banking experience at Azania Bank Ltd and NMB Bank Plc, where he served in various capacities.

With over 20 years of experience in the financial services and microfinance sector, Mr. Mattaba has developed deep expertise in access to finance, financial inclusion, credit management, business development, digital lending, and rural and agricultural finance. He has led numerous strategic initiatives at SELF MF that have significantly contributed to institutional growth and transformation.

Mr. Mattaba is a Certified Professional Banker. He holds a Master’s degree in Microfinance from Università degli Studi di Bergamo (Italy) and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is also a Certified Director by the Institute of Directors Tanzania, a Certified Microfinance Trainer accredited by AfDB/ADB/WB, and a Certified Project Management for Development Professional.
